Raven wants to see who is knocking at the front door. She cannot see the door from the kitchen.
Rocket grabs a small hand mirror and holds it at the corner of the hallway. "Look in here!"
In the mirror, Raven sees Grandma waving through the glass door.
"How did the mirror see around the corner?" Rocket asks.
"What do you notice about how you tilted it?" Raven replies.
Nova tilts her head. "Would you like a hint? Light hit the mirror and bounced in a new straight line."
All objects reflect some light, but they do not reflect it the same way.
Very smooth surfaces, like mirrors, reflect almost all the light that hits them.
A mirror sends light off in a new straight line. Tilt the mirror and the light goes a new way.
Rocket used a mirror to send light from the door, around the corner, to Raven's eyes.
The color of an object comes from the light it reflects. Other colors of light get soaked up.
