Tuesday: Things that make light

Raven looks up at the bright Moon. "Does the Moon make light?"

Rocket says, "Yes!"

Nova blinks. "Let us check," she says.

Light sources

A light source makes its own light.

A lamp is a light source.

A flashlight is a light source.

The Sun is a light source. The Sun is a star!

The Moon borrows light

The Moon does not make its own light.

Sunlight shines on the Moon and bounces off it.

That is why the Moon looks bright.

Rocket was wrong this time, and that is okay.

Now he knows something new!

Safety first
Never look straight at the Sun. It can hurt your eyes.
