Family Cook Day: Family Feast

The whole crew gathers at a long table in the trail cabin. Everyone brought a dish.

Ferris raises a glass of fruit water. "Twelve weeks of cooking! What do you notice?"

Lucy the Ladybug looks around. "Everyone helped, and everyone has a seat," she says.

Riley smiles. "Here is a hint," he says. "Clean up together, too."

  1. Week 1, Clean Hands, Ready Kitchen: wash in five steps.
  2. Week 2, Measure Up: level off and read at eye level.
  3. Week 3, Clean, Separate, Cook, Chill: the four steps to food safety.
  4. Week 4, Allergy Aware: read labels and ask before sharing.
  5. Week 5, Read a Recipe: read it all and gather everything first.
  6. Week 6, Fractions in the Kitchen: halve and double.
  7. Week 7, Hot and Cold: keep food out of the Danger Zone.

For a grown-up
A grown-up handles every heat and knife step, whatever dish your child chose.
Check the dish against every guest's allergies before cooking.
Let your child lead the plan, the timing and the table.
Congratulations on twelve weeks of cooking together!
