Family Cook Day: Oven Potato Wedges

The crew gathers around a pile of muddy potatoes. "Scrub-a-dub!" says Bennie.

Ferris holds the timer. "What do you notice? This recipe needs two timers."

Lucy the Ladybug smiles. "We can take turns setting them," she says.

Riley winks. "Here is a hint," he says. "Listen for the ding, then call a grown-up."

  1. A timer counts minutes. Elapsed time is the end time take away the start time.
  2. A fridge is 40 degrees F or colder. A freezer is 0 degrees F or colder.
  3. Germs grow fast in the Danger Zone, from 40 to 140 degrees F.
  4. Color does not show if meat or eggs are cooked. A thermometer does.
  5. A grown-up handles the oven, the knife and the thermometer in hot food.
