Thursday: What Heat Does, and the Pops Card

Ferris warms a few frozen blueberries in a small pan. The crew watches from the table.

"What do you notice?" he asks. The berries get soft and juicy.

Lizzy writes in her notebook. "Cold made them hard. Heat made them soft."

Riley points to the pops card. "Here is a hint," he says. "Our pops need cold, not heat."

Watch a grown-up use heat

Heat changes food. Cold changes food too.

Watch from a safe spot while a grown-up warms a few frozen berries.

Write what you see before and after.

Safety first
A grown-up handles the stove and the hot pan.
Stay at the table, away from the stove, while you watch.
