Ferris the Fox finds his big banana bread recipe. "It makes two loaves," he says.
"But we only have one small pan," says Bennie the Bear. "What can we do?"
Ferris smiles. "What do you notice about the amounts on the card?"
Riley the Raccoon folds the card in half. "Here is a hint," he says. "Make half."
To make half a batch, split every amount into 2 equal parts.
Half of 2 cups is 1 cup. Half of 4 bananas is 2 bananas.
Half of 1 teaspoon is 1/2 teaspoon.
To make a double batch, add every amount to itself.
Double 1/4 cup is 1/4 plus 1/4. That is 2/4, the same as 1/2 cup.
Double 1 egg is 2 eggs.
| Amount | Half | Double |
|---|---|---|
| 4 bananas | 2 bananas | 8 bananas |
| 2 cups | 1 cup | 4 cups |
| 1 teaspoon | 1/2 teaspoon | 2 teaspoons |
