Family Cook Day: Rainbow Fruit Cups

The whole crew gathers in the trail kitchen. Ferris sets out cups and bowls of washed fruit.

"Today we cook for real," he says. "What do you notice about our fruit?"

Lucy the Ladybug counts the colors. "Red, orange, yellow, green and blue!" she says.

Riley smiles. "Here is a hint," he says. "Make every cup the same."

  1. Wash your hands before, during and after making food.
  2. Five steps: wet, lather, scrub for 20 seconds, rinse, dry.
  3. A grown-up handles every hot and sharp job.
  4. A recipe card has a title, makes, ingredients, an allergy swap and steps.
  5. Equal groups help every cup get a fair share.

  6. You: Count to check that every cup got the same.
  7. Everyone: Taste your rainbow!
  8. You: Wash the bowls and wipe the counter.
