Thursday: Start a sunset log

Rocket wants proof that sunsets change.

Raven grabs the moon log. "What do you notice? We can log sunsets too!"

Nova shows a weather report. "Hint: it lists the sunset time each day."

How to log sunsets

  1. Ask a grown-up to find today's sunset time.
  2. Write the date and the time in your log.
  3. Do it again once a week.
  4. Look for a pattern: earlier or later?

Sunsets are earliest around early December.

In between, the time slowly changes each week.

Your log will show which way it is going now.

Write it in week 1 of your sunset log.
Guess: will next week be earlier or later?
Safety first
Never look at the Sun.
Not with sunglasses. Not with binoculars. Not with a telescope.
The Sun can hurt your eyes very fast.
Draw a sunset. Write today's sunset time under it.

Your sunset log is started! Tomorrow we meet the Lion.
