Friday: Plan Sky Night

Rocket packs a bag with snacks, a blanket and a big telescope.

Raven looks in the bag. "What do you notice? Do we need all this?"

Nova shows a short list. "Hint: good sky watchers bring a few simple things."

What to bring

  • A grown-up
  • Your red light
  • A warm jacket
  • A blanket or chair
  • Your sky log and a pencil

You do not need a telescope.

Your own eyes are a great sky tool.

For a grown-up
Pick a safe spot near home with an open view of sky.
Go out after sunset for 20 to 30 minutes.
Check the weather. Clouds are fine; there is a backup plan.

Pick a safe spot

  • Close to home.
  • Open sky above you.
  • Flat ground with nothing to trip on.
