Build a model dam

Wednesday: Build a model dam

Rocket grabs sticks and pebbles.

"Let's build a dam!" he says.

Raven asks, "Will the water stop?"

Nova says, "Let's see what happens!"

You will need

  • A baking pan or plastic tub
  • Small sticks and pebbles
  • Leaves or a little play dough
  • A cup of water
  • A towel
Safety first
Do this on a towel or outside.
A grown-up helps pour the water.
Keep pebbles out of your mouth.
Wash your hands when you finish.

What to do

  1. Tip the pan so one end is higher.
  2. Build a wall across the middle.
  3. Use sticks, pebbles and leaves.
  4. Press dough into the gaps.
  5. Pour water slowly at the high end.
  6. Watch the water near your wall.
