Launch Lab: Water hunt

For the last Launch Lab, the crew goes on a water hunt.

Rocket finds ice in the freezer. Raven finds a puddle outside.

"Solid and liquid!" Rocket cheers.

Raven writes it down. "What do you notice?"

Nova does a happy loop. "You are real scientists now!"

  1. Almost all of Earth’s water is in the salty oceans.
  2. Most fresh water is frozen in ice and glaciers.
  3. Fresh water is also underground, in lakes and in rivers.
  4. Water can be solid or liquid.
◇ FAMILY WATER HUNT
Walk through your home and yard together.
Find water that is solid.
Find water that is liquid.
Make a list of where you found each one.
Look at a map. Point to an ocean, a lake and a river.
Safety first
Stay away from deep water.
A grown-up opens the freezer.
Do not drink water from puddles.
For a grown-up
Ask: what did you notice?
What would you change?
Celebrate twelve weeks of science together!
