Rocket draws a flamingo parent. Raven draws the chick.

Nova asks, "What is the same? What is different?"

  1. Young animals look like their parents, but not exactly.
  2. Young plants look like their parents, but not exactly.
  3. Leaves from one kind of plant share a shape.
  4. Parents feed, comfort and protect their young.
  5. Young animals call to their parents.
◇ LOOK-ALIKE GAME
Each person draws a parent animal.
Then draw its young next to it.
Trade drawings.
Find two things that are the same.
Find one thing that is different.
For a grown-up
Ask: what did you notice?
Ask: what would you change next time?
Talk about how parents help young animals.
