Wednesday: Root tower

Rocket builds a tall paper tower. Raven blows. Whoosh, it falls!

Rocket groans. Nova asks, "How do plants stay standing?"

You need

  • A cardboard tube
  • Paper strips
  • Tape
  • A grown-up with scissors
Safety first
A grown-up cuts the paper.
Blow gently, toward the tower only.

Steps

  1. Stand the tube up on a table.
  2. Blow on it gently. Does it fall?
  3. Tape paper strips around the bottom of the tube.
  4. Spread the strips out flat, like roots.
  5. Tape the strip ends to the table.
  6. Blow on it again the same way.
