Launch Lab: Sound hunt

Rocket, Raven and Nova go on a sound hunt.

"Every sound comes from shaking," Raven says.

Nova whispers, "Let us find the shakers!"

  1. Sound is a kind of shaking.
  2. Shaking back and forth fast is called vibrating.
  3. Sound makes your eardrum vibrate.
  4. Sound travels through air, water and solid things.
  5. Big vibrations make loud sounds.
◇ FAMILY SOUND HUNT
Walk around your home together.
Find three things that make a sound.
Gently touch each one while it makes sound.
Hold a paper cup to your lips and hum.
Can you feel the cup buzz?
Safety first
Never touch anything hot.
A grown-up says which things are safe to touch.
Keep away from very loud sounds.
