Family Helper Day: Kitchen helper

Saturday in Fern Hollow. Bennie knocks on your door.

"Your kitchen needs a helper today," he says.

Rosie the Rabbit cheers from the garden.

  1. Wash hands: wet, soap, scrub, rinse, dry.
  2. Wash fruit and vegetables under cool water.
  3. Measure dry things. Fill the cup and level it.
  4. Stir slowly in a bowl on the table.
  5. No heat, no cutting, no tasting.
β—‡ HELP WITH ONE MEAL
Wash your hands together. Sing Happy Birthday twice.
Wash the fruit or vegetables for the meal.
Measure one dry thing for your grown-up.
Stir something in a bowl on the table.
Your grown-up does the rest of the cooking.
Eat together as usual.
Safety first
A grown-up does anything hot or sharp.
Stir only in a bowl on the table.
Nothing goes in your mouth while you help.
For a grown-up
Pick jobs with no heat and no cutting.
A tray under the measuring keeps spills easy.
Praise the careful work, not the speed.
