Bruce tells a story at the den. "Once, at the big market, I turned around and my grown-up was gone."
Lucy the Ladybug gasps. "What did you do?"
"I stopped. I stayed right where I was. I looked around slowly. A worker with a name tag was close by, so I asked her."
"I said, I am lost, and I told her my grown-up's name. We waited together right there. My grown-up came in two minutes."
If you lose sight of your grown-up, do not run around looking. Running makes you harder to find.
Stop where you are and stay in that spot. Look around in a circle and listen for someone calling your name. Most of the time your grown-up is close.
If a worker with a name tag or uniform is close, ask for help. If not, keep waiting in your spot and call your grown-up's name.
A safe helper is a grown-up who is there to help people. Look for these signs.
| Safe helper | How you can tell |
|---|---|
| A worker at the store | A name tag or a store uniform |
| A police officer | A uniform and a badge |
| A teacher or a coach | Someone you already know from school or a team |
| A park ranger or security officer | A uniform and a badge |
A safe helper stays with you in a busy, open place. You do not go anywhere with them.
Never leave with anyone who is not your grown-up. Not even if they say your grown-up sent them.
