Wednesday: Build Holder Version 1

Rocket wraps an ice cube in one quick layer of foil.

He sets it in a paper cup. "Shiny means cold!" Rocket says.

Raven sets a plain cup with a cube right beside it.

Nova starts her timer. "I will check them every ten minutes."

You need

  • Ice cubes from the same tray
  • Paper cups
  • Paper napkins, foil, cardboard or an old sock
  • Tape
  • A timer
  • A plate or towel for drips
Safety first
A grown-up takes the ice out of the freezer.
Ice is never tasted. Nothing goes in your mouth.
Use a spoon to move ice. It is very cold on fingers.
Wipe up drips so nobody slips.

Build and test

  1. Build your holder.
  2. Set up a plain cup with one cube, too.
  3. Put a cube in your holder at the same time.
  4. Set both on a plate in the same spot.
  5. Every 10 minutes, peek. Is there still ice?
