Build boat version 1

Wednesday: Build Boat Version 1

Rocket folds his foil into a tall, skinny cup.

"Tall walls keep the water out!" Rocket says.

Raven sets it gently on the water. It bobs.

Nova counts as coins go in. "One, two, three..."

You need

  • A tub or sink with a little water
  • Squares of foil, all the same size
  • A pile of coins, all the same kind
  • A towel for spills
Safety first
A grown-up stays with you near water.
Use only a little water, never deep water.
Keep coins away from babies and mouths.
Foil edges can be sharp. A grown-up cuts the squares.

Build and test

  1. Shape your foil into a boat.
  2. Set it gently on the water.
  3. Add one coin at a time.
  4. Spread the coins out across the bottom.
  5. Stop when water comes in. Count your coins.
