Wednesday: Build Parachute Version 1

Rocket folds a napkin into a tiny square.

"Small is neat," Rocket says, taping on four strings.

Raven ties the strings to the paper cup.

Nova sets her timer. "Grown-up, hold it high. Three, two, one, drop!"

You need

  • A paper napkin
  • String, cut into 4 pieces the same length
  • Tape
  • A small paper cup
  • 2 coins
  • A timer
Safety first
A grown-up cuts the string.
Only a grown-up drops the parachute, standing on the floor.
Never climb on chairs or stairs to drop it.
Keep coins away from babies and mouths.

Build it

  1. Tape one string to each corner of the napkin.
  2. Tape the other ends inside the cup rim.
  3. Put 2 coins in the cup.
  4. A grown-up holds it up high and lets go.
  5. Time the fall in seconds.
For a grown-up
Hold your arm straight up the same way every drop.
Say go as you let go, so the timer starts on time.
